As I am on the internet everyday, like I’m sure most of us are, I come accross around 20 offers about courses I should take depending on my profile.
Discover with me how to step off those precious advices offered by what I call the knowledge merchants.
Of course, thanks to all those beautiful algorithms which direct the web, and that might be coming handy sometimes it’s true, we are all always offered exactly what should be good for us. And since I am running a blog, dozens of people offer me to write better, market better or take better pictures. I guess you are also offered to be better at what you do.
As if we needed to be better.
Don’t you feel the same?
No this won’t be an article about how awful commercials are. Instead you will be encouraged to believe in yourself. In this article, you will have a tool for stopping believing in the last ad you saw
“Believe in your infinite potential. Your only limitations are those you set upon yourself.”
Roy T. Bennet
Actually, I don’t like commercials but I’m ok with them because when you work by yourself and especially since I used to working in the TV industry, I understand that they can help. In fact, without ads some industry might not even exist.
Let’s say you’re an actor playing in a show next week and you don’t have any contacts in the town you’re going to play in. That was the case for me some months ago, before this crazy pandemic happened. Wouldn’t you be ready to go in the streets to tell every person you meet about your show that would be played the next day? That could help but if you don’t use some ads, you can be sure that almost no one is going to come to watch your show. And if nobody comes then you’re not working.
Imagine being on stage, alone with the members of your company, in front of an empty room. You’re all dressed up, you were in the backstage full of stage fright, ready to jump and play as if it was your last role and there you see no one in the room. Imagine how awful you might feel. It just gives me a stomach ache just to think about this.
It’s like saying that if you don’t use ads, all the hard work you gave, all the rehearsals you went to and all the lines you forced yourself to learn are just lost since you cannot show what you worked on.
This is why I put up with commercials. Not because I like them, we have way too much of them but because they can help an entire industry.
But I feel like nowadays we are all adviced to run a course that will change our lives.
Every course will if you listen to them.
Of course, we are all here to learn, I believe it is why we are all incarnated here, but aren’t we enough with what we know? Do we really need to enroll in the last brand new online academy?
I just feel like this is making people believe that they are not enough and that they won’t be fully themselves until they take a particular course.
I am saying this because I already enrolled in 3 classes, paid for 2 and used about 3 months of free trial. All for what? Yes I did learn many things but this took so much of my time that I just realise now that we need to focus on what we have, what we know and who we are spending our time with.
You see, every teacher you will have also have to learn everyday about the very thing they are teaching. Even if it is just being aware of the news and new laws for a lawyer for instance.
All I’m saying is that we all have to learn eveyday but eveything we are learning is taught to us by life itself. All the lessons we need to learn will be taught to us, in a way we might not even expect.
Didn’t you make a mistake that someone warned you about? Like start smoking cigarettes or lend money to someone who didn’t deserve it? Your loved ones warned you but you had to make the mistake so you would learn the lesson.
Isn’t it exactly why you always come accross the same problem every now and then?
Simply because you didn’t learn the lesson and life is teaching it to you again and again, until you understand and learn it well.
So next time you think about enrolling in the last online course you saw, be kind enough to ask yourself : « Do I really need this? » If you don’t have time, if other issues needing to be worked on are awaiting you then it means that you should already focus on what you have and come back to it later. You might even realise that you don’t even need that course anymore.
We will talk about how life has a way of directing back to you the same issues over and over in a later article.
I hope this one encouraged you to believe in yourself and to trust the skills you already have. If it did, you should be interested in next week’s article which will be about our series on the mind-body connection and specifically about the healing power of our body.
You are enough.

Until then, remember that life has always something to teach you, everyday. Even if it is about opening a door for an elderly.
Are you used to feeling anxious? Scared? Does anyone tried to help you in this matter but did quite the opposite?
In the last article The Mind-Body Connection introduced the subject of always being connected to what we do. This means being aware of our own emotions and desires and acting upon them.
I can assure you that meditation can be a powerful tool for addressing those issues.
Because I have been practicing meditation on a daily basis for 7 years now.
People fail to help you because they are not in your shoes and might address the problem from an angle you don’t really need and therefore, the problem still exists.
Meditation can be your medication.
It can help you overcome your issues, if you know how to use it.
How does meditation can help me?
Why doesn’t it work on me?
Is there a simple tool I can use for helping me meditate?
Those are the questions we are addressing today.
How does meditation can help?
Meditation is simple and practical.
Research shows that simply by sitting down and closing your eyes you can access a level of relaxation that is deeper that deep sleep.
It reduces stress hormones by 30 to 40% where a good night sleep reduces it by 10 to 12%.
It increases serotonin, prolactin, oxytocin and reduces blood pressure. It even increases the production of anti-aging hormones.
It is more effective that any other relaxation techniques.
Research also shows that it makes new connection in the brain. If you scan the brain of someone that is meditating, you will see connection happening in the left and right side of his brain as well as in the back and front of it.
Which results in making us make better decisions, have better judgment because we allow the part of the brain responsible for this -the pre frontal cortex- to be well fed in oxygen particularly.
Meditation helps us become our best self.
When I was starting meditation, I encountered a wonderful teacher that helped me understand that I was embodying letting go thanks to meditation.
After a 45 minute mediation I had with him, we all shared our experience. At that time I had a hard time staying still, I always had to readjust my position or even just was disturbed by my own clothes. I explained him that I finally was able to tell myself during that single meditation that it could wait, that for this moment I was able to stay still and wait for the end of the meditation for moving or even for thinking about something else I had in mind.
He congratulated the effort and showed me that my meditation journey was on the good path.
Meditation doesn’t always work
Meditation can work for everyone, but it can also worsen the very thing you’re trying to meditate for. This is because there are several types of meditation.
Of course, if you look online, everyone is going to tell you that their technique is the best one there is but this is just a lie. Unfortunately those are the ones that are going to be the closest to sectarianism.
As a matter of fact, you can choose what type of meditation you want to do according to what you’re doing it for.
Before choosing the type of meditation you’re going to dedicate yourself to, you should ask yourself those questions :
What is the goal of my mediation? Do you want to feel more free, let go a situation in particular, understand something …
Which sense do you prefer? Some meditation will be more visual when others might be more auditory …
Which aspect do you want to develop the most? Patience, love, spirituality, memory, focus …
We will go through the types of meditation in a later article but for now I would suggest any beginner to try and start with those types of meditation :
Yoga nidra : this is actually the simplest one I was given to try. You just lay down on your back and let yourself be guided by the voice of your meditation teacher.
Spinal breathing : which will help your anxiety as well as mantra and mindfulness meditation.
Inner silence : lead you to know yourself, deal with your confusion or restlessness.
Learn to overcome your fear thanks to a simple tool
I’m using fear as an example here and the tool I’m going to share with you can be used with any emotions you’re having difficult times with.
The tool I’m sharing with you comes from another meditation teacher I had and uses the technical memo RAIN.
RAIN stands for Recognise, Allow, Investigate, Nurture.
Recognise : name your fear.
Allow : do not judge it but instead allow it to be here.
Investigate : feel where it lives in your body and what sensation it brings you.
Nurture : use your own kindness and care to begin being present with the fear.
After the rain, feel the shift that has happened from the fearful self when you started to that space of compassionate presence.
Want some help?
I can now tell you that soon, an online meditation course will be available on the blog. It is a 21 day challenge designed for discovering meditation where I teach you the fundamentals of mediation in a progressive way. The first day of the challenge will include 1 minute of meditation the second day 2 minutes, the third day 3 minutes and so on until 21 minutes of meditation for day 21.
Be sure to stay tuned, more information about this in a few weeks.
I hope you enjoyed this article and that it gave you a clearer idea of what meditation can do for you.

In the meantime, remember that everything you do can be turned into meditation, from sitting to making dishes and running. It only takes conscious presence in what you are doing.
Of course you know how much it is important to watch what comes into your mouth. Everybody knows that eating fast-food everyday is bad and that we need particularly a certain amount of oligo elements to go out through our days. But more than that, we are influenced by anything that comes in contact with us, not only about the food we eat but also the things we watch or listen to. Look at how it feels to be outside those days, you start to feel anxious when you have to leave home even if you’re not used to feeling like everyone else.
Didn’t you know that as soon as your body – or being – comes into contact with something – anything – , it starts to mirror it a little more ? That something you were watching or listening ; or even that person you’ve spent time with is making you look a little more like them. It’s just as if that something or someone was glowing power into you so as so you would become a little more of them?
We are what we eat.
You might have heard that saying so many times. But it doesn’t keep away the fact that it is true. And we are going to uncover it more today. It is true in at least 4 different ways : (1) I eat what (2) I watch in order to (3) listen to what (4) I feel.

Just because they’re better for you than foods soaked in pesticides. They’re more expensive, that is true, but sometimes you just have to put more money in order to be well and live at the fullest of your capacities. Even the plastic wrapping some of your foods can be harmful to you.If I should say one thing about this, try to eat as much as fruits and vegetables as you can, and choose as much organic foods as you can. They’re more expensive, that is true, but sometimes you just have to put more money in order to be well and live at the fullest of your capacities. Even the plastic wrapping some of your foods can be harmful to you.
It’s the same for GMOs, if you just take time to look at what you put into your mouth, you might realise that some labels specify that what you are eating is bad and is created artificially – thankfully the law still says that companies have to be transparent. It’s exactly what it is, we eat things created from chemical products, therefore something artificial. How can we think that it could be at least good for us? It’s proven that pesticides change our DNA! Look for those label showing something that you don’t know, there’s a chance it’s just because it doesn’t exist. Such as E385, E200, soy lecithin and so on.
The US NEWS tells more : “Paying attention to what you eat isn’t only about controlling weight; the need for certain vitamins and minerals increases with age. One is calcium, necessary to protect bones. Another is B12, since some older adults make less of the stomach acid required to absorb the vitamin. More vitamin D also is required. « The skin gets less efficient at converting sunlight into this vitamin, so more is needed from other sources, » Lichtenstein says. Fewer than 7 percent of Americans between ages 50 and 70 get enough vitamin D from the foods they eat, and fewer than 26 percent get enough calcium.”
And this meat you’re eating everyday also contains drugs that the animal took… I’m just saying it’s really important to know where your food comes from.
<p value="<amp-fit-text layout="fixed-height" min-font-size="6" max-font-size="72" height="80">And for the ones who smoke, some might even say that the plant you smoke even take control of your own body. You’re not the same when you do smoke. And believe me when I say this. I stopped smoking recently and I realised what it took from me. Stopping actually brought me back to my “real self”, or at least it gave me back my energy and fuel for life I so much needed. But since I was smoking cigarettes every day I didn’t even realise it since it was always the case. And for the ones who smoke, some might even say that the plant you smoke even take control of your own body. You’re not the same when you do smoke. And believe me when I say this. But since I was smoking cigarettes every day I didn’t even realise it since it was always the case.
It’s the same for the things you eat or anything you drink, sometimes we don’t even realise how bad it can hurt us because we ingest it everyday and we don’t know how we are feeling when we’re out of it. Choosing good food is a way to showing your body that you worth more than cheap.
I could go on and on about this but we’ll come back later with an article about Ayurveda and about how and why I became vegetarian.
What can we remember about all this today? This article might give us an idea :“Rich in vegetables, fruit, cereals, nuts, regular ‘splash’ of olive oil, and occasional glass of wine, the Mediterranean diet has multiple beneficial health effects, such as decreasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and cognitive disorders. The effect seemed to be clear-cut in Mediterranean populations, but it wasn’t so consistent for the non-Mediterranean regions, probably because of the use of different Mediterranean diet scores.”
2 – What we watch is digested in the same way as food
You know how Facebook is taking time out of you. We are in quarantine so we’re all more on our screens but don’t you realise that all the notifications you’re getting are made to take time out of you? I know you do. They actually want you to spend more time on your phone so you’re able to see their adds and so they get your money. Again, it’s all about money.
Furthermore, as I told you in my article about the benefits of coronavirus, we need to concentrate on the good things happening around us and I don’t think concentrating on the news every single day won’t help us to feel good. And if one doesn’t feel good, one is not happy.
As a matter of fact, mainstream medias don’t always tell the truth, they are known for arranging the truth. Especially right now, where it’s easy to feel overwhelmed ; they shouldn’t lie to us but they do. We heard in France that all the hospitals were full and that it was hard. I get that it is hard but then I hear from one of my friend who is working as a nurse in hospitals in the south of France that there hospitals are not full at all and even that some nurses need to take vacation because they’re too much people working…
“Repeat a lie strong enough and long enough and people will believe it.” Adolf Hitler
I won’t go into asking why they do that but it’s still interesting to realise it. When we watch the news, we are soaking up the fear that they want to give us. We should therefore be aware of what we watch as much as what we listen.
Watching is the same as playing. Many years ago not far from my hometown, we all heard about that teenager who killed his parents after playing too long at video games that were not supposed to be played by someone his age. There’s also children going mad after playing “Slender Man ». A women even killed his 3 month old baby just because he was too much crying while she was playing “Farmville”. I don’t know about you but it’s enough for me to try to not play too long.
Therefore, we can naturally see that what we are watching is ingested by our body and has an effect on our wellbeing. Of course change doesn’t happen overnight but by becoming aware and conscious of the situation, we all can start to change our habits into good ones.
3 – You soak up what you listen to
We all had that experience where music just changed our mood. We listened to that one music we liked because we were just feeling down and wanting some alone time. That music sheered us up and made us rock the end of the day. I know I love to play a mantra in the morning (read my article about mantras here if you didn’t already) to wake up gently and then I put some loud music to start my day energised.
Listening to a podcast might be a good thing to do as well. I also talked about this in my article about what to do during lock down, you can read it here.
Moreover, we all experienced a lie that affected us. My sister for instance, she still remembers me saying that we were on our mother’s womb at the same, except we’re 10 years apart… Joke aside, it’s the same for secrets, they might be hard to keep or even bear and it can affect our wellbeing and even the way we think.
For instance I will always remember those pictures or clips I watched and heard when I was a teenager and decided to do like the others and watch what everyone was watching. Even though you knew you shouldn’t have had watched it, you did and it became part of your life for quite some time.
It is the same for the radio shows you used to listen to. Why don’t the good things tend to stick to ourselves more than the bad things? It is much easier for something bad to get remembered later. It is how life works and how we are made to function. Our brain follows patterns he knows. In meditation, we learn the cycles of life. Which are “Action – Desire – Memory”. Even if we think we have a free will, most of the time we are following the same patterns over and over. And that’s not just me saying it, scientists too. If we want to think about good memories, we first need to concentrate on creating good action so our desires change and we keep living in an energy of love more than an energy of fear. For this, believe me when I say that mediation is going to help you come across those different feelings, you can read my article about meditation, Stop Running and Listen to Yourself.
4 – I feel good
My feelings start to go up as long as I keep doing what is making me feel good. The more I eat things that are good for me, the more that I watch interesting things and the more I listen to things that uplift me, the more I will feel happy.
Let’s take a look at Hawkins Scale of Consciousness. It tell us that in order to live Enlightenment, we need to be « logged » in the higher ranks of the scale. If I’m showing off and therefore live Pride, I’m feeling Scorn and I vibrate at 175 on the scale, and we also get the emotion to help us recognise where we are, here is Demanding. Hawkins is a psychologist and Nobel Price, his worldly estimate of humanity’s evolution is « courage ».
I find this scale really interesting. If we transpose what I’m saying into it, we see that if I watch something frightening, I get feelings of anxiety and therefore live at only 20 on the scale of consciousness. I told you in previous articles that life is made of vibration and that we all vibrate something. That scale represents the energy we are vibrating and therefore attracting to us.
Don’t we all want to live at the highest of our potential and attract good things to us? We therefore should try to vibrate at a certain energy, at least control the most of it that we can. What we can control is what we eat, what we watch and what we listen to.
I know that it is easier said than done ; don’t worry, everything take time and change doesn’t happen overnight. Be gentle with yourself and start being aware of your life.
